The Library 2.0 Gang is a regular monthly round-table podcast hosted by Richard Wallis, joined by several contributors drawn from a pool of regulars from the world of libraries and the technologies that influence them, to discuss the topics of the day.

Each month The Gang will be joined by a guest relevant to one of the topics under discussion.

Gang Regular: Warwick Cathro

Warwick Cathro Warwick Cathro is Assistant Director-General, Innovation at the National Library of Australia. His role is to identify and lead significant new strategic initiatives for the Library.

In recent years Warwick has chaired steering committees for projects such as the development of Libraries Australia and the National Library’s Newspaper Digitisation Project. He is currently chairing the Library’s Business Integration Taskforce, which aims to restructure and expand the Library’s national discovery services, to base them on views of an integrated “national metadata store”.

Since 2003 Warwick has led the Library’s participation in research infrastructure projects such as ARROW and APSR.

Warwick’s career at the National Library started in 1978 in the IT area. During much of the 1980s and 1990s he was responsible for delivering network services to the Australian library community. Between 1998 and 2003 Warwick held the position of Assistant Director-General, Information Technology, where he worked to strengthen the partnership between the IT Division and the business areas of the Library.
