The Library 2.0 Gang is a regular monthly round-table podcast hosted by Richard Wallis, joined by several contributors drawn from a pool of regulars from the world of libraries and the technologies that influence them, to discuss the topics of the day.

Each month The Gang will be joined by a guest relevant to one of the topics under discussion.

Gang Regular: Andrew Nagy

Andrew NagyAndrew Nagy, an open source evangelist and library technologist, joined Serials Solutions in late 2008 as Senior Discovery Services Engineer. Prior to joining, he was the Technology Development Specialist for the Falvey Memorial Library at Villanova University where he was responsible for developing and implementing an innovative suite of applications to provide access to library collections on the Web. He was also responsible for steering the strategic initiatives for matching the library’s technical capacity to the University’s ranking for being the #1 “most wired” college campus in the United States as well as being a top ranking university in it’s category.

In early 2007, he launched VuFind, an open source next generation library discovery application. Since it’s inception, VuFind has been adopted at many libraries around the globe. He has traveled to many conferences presenting on VuFind and the topic of next generation library catalogs. He has also contributed to the open source SolrMarc project and also the PEAR repository, a collection of open source PHP libraries.

Andrew holds a Masters of Technology Management degree from Villanova University School of Business and a Masters of Computer Science from Villanova University College of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he holds an Undergraduate degree in Information Management and Technology from the Syracuse University iSchool.
